What is ArtCraft?

ArtCraft is a project that publishes a suite of free, open-source apps written in Rust, each modelled on the look and workflow of a well-known commercial app: PhotoCraft for Photoshop, FilmCraft for Premiere Pro, VectorCraft for Illustrator, LightCraft for Lightroom, EffectCraft for After Effects, DesignCraft for InDesign and PdfCraft for Acrobat, followed by CADCraft, DeckCraft, GridCraft, WordCraft, SoundCraft and FigCraft. What is PhotoCraft?

PhotoCraft is the image editor of the suite, modelled on Adobe Photoshop: layers, masks, type and PSD editing, in an app written in Rust. Its authors present it as an early alpha.

Is PhotoCraft free? Can I try it online?

The apps are free and open source (each page shows the exact license). On YouMyApp you open PhotoCraft, FilmCraft and the other Crafting Apps directly in your browser, with nothing to install and no account to create. Press reports mention that optional AI features offered by the project itself can be paid; YouMyApp does not ask you for an account or a payment to open the apps.

Can PhotoCraft replace Photoshop, and FilmCraft replace Premiere Pro?

Are the Crafting Apps really “clean-room” reimplementations?

The authors describe them as clean-room reimplementations, meaning they aim to reproduce similar functionality without using Adobe’s or Microsoft’s source code or assets. Some commentators in public discussions have questioned that label, and YouMyApp cannot verify it. YouMyApp only hosts the builds unchanged and links to each source repository, so you can read the code and the license yourself.

Is YouMyApp affiliated with ArtCraft, Adobe or Microsoft?

No. YouMyApp is an independent portal: it hosts the published builds of the apps without modification and is not affiliated with ArtCraft, Adobe, Microsoft, Autodesk, Figma or Avid. Brand names are used only to say which kind of software each app is an alternative to.
